Port Networks is a privately held, Baltimore-based
company that operates Wi-Fi networks in
its local region, builds marine Wi-Fi
systems for recreational and commercial
clients around the world, and creates
IP Data & Voice Networks for clients
in business and government. Our company
was organized in 2002, and operates as
a limited liability company registered
with the state of Maryland.
Our headquarters and Network Operations
Center are located on the 24th floor of
the World Trade Center building at the
edge of Baltimore's Inner Harbor. Our
NOC features redundant Internet connections,
backup power, electronic security, and
24 hour monitoring. Our sales and customer
support representatives are located in
the same facility as our technical team.
From the World Trade Center, our wireless
network extends over rooftops and towers
throughout most of Central, Southeast,
and North Baltimore. In those districts,
we offer Wi-Fi service to homes, multi-tenant
residential and commercial buildings,
retail locations, marinas, and public
venues.
Building on our experience installing
custom Wi-Fi systems for clients visiting
Baltimore, we launched our own line of
Marine Wireless Bridge products in the
Spring of 2006. We continue to expand
that line, and are on the way to becoming
the global leader in marine Wi-Fi systems.
About Our Logo.
For centuries before the advent of wireless
communication, sailors used signal flags to
communicate between ships. Each of these flags
represented both a letter of the alphabet, and
-- for faster communication -- a commonly used
phrase. The "K" flag that serves as our logo
was used to signal that a ship was "ready to
communicate." Though we have more efficient
communications tools these days, our corporate
signal flies in tribute to Baltimore, its seafaring
history, and our commitment to serve all those
who are ready to communicate today.
